Scotlands Housing Market Receives an Unexpected Boost!

There has been a dramatic increase in the amount of property transactions between April & June with the number of homes sold in Scotland rising by 9% over the year. This news is unlikely to put a spring in your step however as the average house price has fallen once again by 0.2%. Property owners in Edinburgh can take satisfaction in the fact that the Capital has regained the title of the most expensive place to buy in Scotland. The average price of a home in Edinburgh stands at £220,428.

It is generally agreed that the likely explanation for the increase in property transactions is down to sellers realising that the flat market is not going to pick up for some time and holding out for a better price may not be the best strategy.

The EH6 district of Edinburgh is proving to be the most popular area for young professionals to purchase a property. This area provides them with easy access to the City Centre for both work and leisure activities. Edinburgh’s EH6 & EH7 area’s have always been ear marked as “Up & Coming” and these predictions might be realised as this stimulates a local increase in property values in the long term.
